I can't get that chrome piece off. I removed the two screws on the wheel spokes, and still no go.
Any tips on getting this thing off without breaking it?
It's actually a lot easier than it looks. The only thing you need to remove is the center cap...the chrome "V" with the horn buttons can't be removed with the wheel still installed. Just grab the center cap and pull it straight out, and it'll pop out. It's retained by a couple of metal spring clips. If you cant' grab it hard enough with your fingers, you might take a welding clamp or something and put a couple rubber pads on it...squeeze and pull.
Then just disconnect the horn wire, remove the nut and remove the steering wheel. Any standard steering wheel puller will work...there are the usual two threaded holes in the wheel.
If you want any tips on restoring your wheel, just let me know...I've spent a lot of hours working on mine.
