Well, for the year anyway
. Wife and kids were away, so I decided to finally change the oil in the Olds and take her out for a spin... It hasn't been driven since last fall, and she was a bit rough after I got it started--it actually sounded like it had an exhaust leak on the right side of the engine, but the sound went away after it got good and warmed up. Maybe the lifters were just cranky from being dry. Gonna need to drive off the tank of gas that's in it, it's getting old too. Once warmed up, she ran great...it was a cool night and it felt really good to put all the windows down and feel the breeze come through.
Also...finally (FINALLY!) found the piece of stainless side trim for the driver's side door I've been looking for... It was missing when I bought the car back in '95, and I've been looking for it off and on ever since. Scored this one off ebay for less than $25 (!). It came off a Dynamic 88 that was being parted out...they advertised it as an 88 piece, but I knew that the doors on all two door cars were the same so I got it. It's in very good condition, with one small ding in the underside. Definitely a usable piece once I hit it with the 0000 steel wool. Kind of a Happy 50th Birthday present for the Olds
. That completes all the side trim for her except the great big long spears that go on the upper quarter panels. I still have mine, but they're pretty beat with door dings...I started to pound the dents out, but I haven't gotten very far.
