60 Super 88 Convertible: In progress

My check book does most of the work. Every once in a while I try something. Back in 2005 my nephew and I pulled the motor. Then, last November, da wife and I drove the car to Barrington, IL to have some body work done. Brian Ford (still 19) hooked me up with the guy that's done work on his cars. I ran the chrome and stainless to a local shop. It took about 7 weeks to do all the shine. (and a lot of friggin' $$!)
I'm going to see if I can post a couple of shots.

Sounds like a good score! My car had exactly one ring and cap when I got it, and they were pretty ugly. Lost them somewhere along the way. I still look for them once in a while...it would be nice to have a set of steel wheels with the correct rings and caps. Not really looking that hard though...I've got my alloy wheels on there, and they look pretty good for now.

It's finally home!!! After nine months. It's like a baby!? Made it home without blowing up too.

AWESOME!! And yes, when making a post like this pictures are required . Bet that's a great feeling. I'm actually taking mine out tonight for a drive and to shoot some pictures. Need to get out of the house for a while, and there's no better way than take my '60 out for a drive on a warm August night...

Well, the car made it home yesterday. I'll be taking it back for a couple of minor things but, over all, very nice. The wife and I took it for a short cruise today.
Nice to have it home.

Looks great! Would love to see more pics though . I fixed your image tags... All you need to do is when you paste the URL for the picture into your message is just drag your mouse across it to highlight it, and hit the "Img" button at the top of the message. That will add the tags to the front and back of the URL so it displays correctly. Man, I'm really liking your car though. Only convertible I've ever owned was a 2000 Camaro, red with a black top. Got a lot of fond memories of that car...my favorite thing was driving down the highway on a clear summer night with the top down. It's an amazing feeling crusing like that under a canopy of stars with the wind rushing by...
Hope you can get out and enjoy yours with the weather you have left!

Springs in Spring...
Got up on Saturday morning 8am, a couple of neighbors came over, turned on some tunes, coffee & donuts. Took the old leaf springs off and replaced them with brand new. All new hardware. Nice. It took three hours. No air tools or torches. That's a dry car!
I think I picked up an additional 4" height. I'm looking forward to the response to bumps and driveways. (I used to drag my exhaust)

Wow, that's great! I was going to ask if you had to break out the blue wrench . I remember when I put a lift kit on my old truck, I had to dissect most of the old suspension to get it off...what a mess. Are you going to do the coils too? Mine could probably use both...it's not dragging or anything, but they are showing their age...

Well, now I'm driving it around without an interior. Actually, me and a buddy bolted a seat from a '85 Chevy truck in so I can take it places. No door panels, nothin'. Sort of fun!

Update:
The seats are being sewn. The carpet has been ordered. The panels should be here, when they arrive.

Talked to SMS today. "should be to you sometime this month" Well, SMS, you have seven business days left. It looks like I will have to pick up the car from the upholstery shop, bring it home and take it back when the panels arrive. Just cuz I love driving back n forth.
